Press Release on October 28, 2001 Q9 to Suit All Age Groups Promoting Chinese Culture and Benefiting School Community Q9 Technology Holdings Limited ("Q9" or "the Company"; Stock code: 8129) is committed to promoting Q9 CIS among education and charity institutions. In the past three months, Q9 has liased with smallcampus.net, primary and secondary schools in Aberdeen (Hong Kong South), Breakthrough Youth Village and Shum Shui Po District Council to jointly promote Q9 CIS. These four projects cover users from all age brackets and received warm response. 'Online Q9 CIS Competition' targeted at all primary students in Hong Kong. Starting from July 2001, the Group launched this competition with Children's Express Daily and www.smallcampus.net, an education website specially for primary students. The aim is to encourage primary students to adopt Q9 CIS and hope to quicken their learning curves by this on-line competition. The learning of Chinese and IT can also be enhanced. As at October 16, over 500 primary students participated in this competition and their average speed reached 40 words per minute. The final of 'Online Q9 CIS Competition' was held today. The best 25 participants gathered to compete for the top three places. Prizes totaled over HK$10,000 and the atmosphere was festive and happy. The Group promoted its product among teenagers through cooperation with the 'Southern IT Young Masters Plan' and the 'Online Ark's Community' by Breakthrough Youth Village. 'Southern IT Young Masters Plan' is a role-playing project. Over 30 students from Aberdeen Technical Institute will play the role of young masters and teach Q9 CIS to primary students in the area. 'Online Ark's Community' assists the teaching of basic computer operation and webpage design to disabled students. Through software application, operation and online training, the disabled students are able to create a community for support, encouragement and serving. Physical limitations are no longer a hindrance to communication. New information and increased contact give them a more worldly vision. Commenting on 'Southern IT Young Masters Plan', Li Kim Wah, Vice Principal of Aberdeen Technical Institute, said, 'Changjie is a more difficult CIS method as children need to learn word codes and decoding. Q9 CIS provides hints on screen. The principle is also easier, recognizing word characteristics instead of memorizing codes. Primary students find it easy to master.' Mr Mark Leung, the Group's Chairman, said, 'One of the Group's mission is to promote CIS in the education sector. We cooperate with various IT education centres and education bodies under Hong Kong Education Department to promote Q9 CIS to over 1,300 schools and over 1 million teachers and students in Hong Kong. In ten months' time, over 450 schools have chosen Q9 CIS as one of their learning tools. The penetration rate is over 35%.' The Group cooperates with Shum Shui Po District Council to launch 'Senior Citizens Computer Classes'. The Course includes basic computer operation, Q9 CIS and the use of Internet. The Group provides the use of Q9 CIS software for free. The software was installed in the Senior Citizens' classroom to teach them this easy-to-use CIS. Tam Kwok Hung, (please provide title), said, 'This year is the second year we launch this kind of classes in Shum Shui Po. The average number of participants is over 600. We have always been committed to promoting CIS with Q9. It is a very easy-to-use CIS, very suitable to senior citizens.' Mr Leung said, 'The Group hopes to promote its Q9 culture through various cooperation projects with education and charity organizations. We also hope that by addressing the needs of minorities, all of us can further understand the meaning of "It is better to give than to receive." We hope our acts can encourage more young people to care for the society and instill a stronger and better sense of community spirit in our environment.'
